Once

Once I loved a nonchalant soul
Which thought cared for me more
That it wasn’t good enough
And beyond infactuation, I explore

It wasn’t that I asked
Neither were any promises made
Nothing was meant to be
Yet, I didn’t want our relic to fade

So I hung onto it as hard as I could
Knowing well that it wasn’t right
But who was to tell this faint heart
This wasn’t worth the fight

After a multitude of inner bedlam
I didn’t need to relive the pain
Hope we’d never cross paths again
Glad it went its way and I, mine
