Until we meet again

There are so many memories of you
But none that can bring you back
Wish I tried harder to make new
Never knew you’d be the one we lack

There were many who you touched
But that smile was more to remember
Wish one last time I’d clutched
Never discerned you’d be an ember

There will be times I long to chat
But it’s a wait until we meet again
Wish I didn’t have to say that
Never saw in eternity you’d feign

There were moments of your hilarity
But many that come rushing now
Wish life exhibited some parity
Never thought you’d watch from above
